Abstract

Objective: To describe our experience with ocriplasmin therapy for patients with symptomatic vitreomacular traction syndrome (DVT) in routine clinical practice. Material and Methods: Descriptive and retrospective study of patients in our area treated with ocriplasmin under the indication of MVD. Among other variables, the complications of the treatment and the response to it were studied. Results: A total of 6 eyes were included, all with focal DVT. The majority were men, phakic and without concomitant ocular pathology. Two presented macular hole (AM). The traction was resolved in 3 (50%) of the patients, and the AM was closed in one of them (50%). Only 1 (16.67%) had a serious complication. Conclusion: Intravitreal ocriplasmin seems to be an effective and safe alternative treatment for MVT as it achieves the release of traction in a high percentage of cases with an acceptable safety profile.
