Resum

Objective: To analyze the vascular density of the superficial plexus of the retina, in a healthy population, measured by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A). Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out in a healthy population of our area of influence, using Cirrus HD 5000 OCT-A (Zeiss, Dublin, CA-USA). 6 x 6 mm Angio-OCT centered on the fovea was obtained. The vascular density values were collected automatically using the Cirrus HD 5000® OCT-A software. Results: We analyzed 167 healthy eyes, 68.9% of women, the average age obtained was 49.83 ± 14.54 years. The values of the mean obtained for each ETDRS zone for vascular density are: central: 9.67% (95% CI: ± 0.41); internal density: 18.01% (95% CI: ± 0.19); external density: 18.33% (95% CI: ± 0.17); and total density: 18.02% (95% CI: ± 0.31). It is important to emphasize that we have found significant differences when comparing the vascular density of the different age groups among themselves (p = 0.001/p = 0.008). Conclusions: The total superficial vascular density that we obtained for the ETDRS circle in a 6 x 6 mm field is 18.02% (95% CI: ± 0.16). We have found a statistically significant decrease in superficial vascular density the older the patients are.
