Abstract

Case Report: An 18-year-old woman who consulted for acute decrease of visual acuity in the left eye of 5 days of duration was diagnosed with a hemi-central retinal vein occlusion. Given the age of the patient, she was referred to the Internal Medicine and Hematology departments in order to determine the cause of the thrombosis. Conclusions: The pathologies that can cause a retinal vein occlusion in young adults are numerous, therefore, it is important to analyze the cardiovascular risk factors in these patients in addition to assessing other possible systemic causes in order to diminish the long-term morbidity and mortality of these patients.
