Abstract
Results of a study in number sense for secondary education students are presented about three tasks of fractions. The tasks belongs to a written questionnaire responded by 8th and 10th grade of Secondary Compulsory Education. The success and the strategies of the responses are analyzed. The results show basic misconceptions, as well as a lack of understanding of the relationship between the multiplication of fractions and the area of a quadrilateral figure. The percentages of success for the 8th grade students is lower than those of 10th grade, although for this last level the results are still considered unsuitable given the concept of fractions implies in the tasks.
