Resumen

Over the last years, Massive Open Online Courses have consolidated as highlighted tools to promote educational changes and innovation processes based on learning and knowledge technologies around the world. At the same time, current universities focus their attention on these courses as an alternative for the transfer of the knowledge generated by the university community to society. In this scenario, the University of La Laguna (ULL) has developed an ambitious program to design, develop, and promote Massive Open Online Courses with valuable information about multiple knowledge areas (engineering, psychology, medicine, etc.), which is derived from the expertise and professional development of the staff of the university. This initiative also provides an interesting way to gain international visibility while enabling the spread of knowledge and the recruitment of new students. The initiative developed at the ULL to provide access to new Massive Open Online Courses and its progress from its initial proposal is analysed in this paper. In particular, we analyse how the university has promoted the development, production, and publication of this kind of courses and how the staff has been trained in the development of open audiovisual content for learning purposes.
