Abstract

The Directive (EU) 2022/2041 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 October 2022 on adequate minimum wages in the European Union is the realization of the sixth principle of the European Pillar of Social Rights. Its purpose is to improve the living and working conditions of working people in the territories of the EU regarding the adequacy of minimum wages, in order to contribute to upwards social convergence and reduce wage inequality. This study draws from the analysis of the applicable regulatory framework and the EU policies that have underpinned the promotion of this Directive, and then moves on to a detailed examination of its content and an analysis of its implications for the Spanish legal system.
