Abstract

The present study stems from the widespread confusion about new actors and processes that have a relevant role in shaping public opinion and that generate an obvious state of uncertainty in democratic systems. After a global analysis of the dominant scenario, it delves into the different elements to identify current and future challenges, as a previous step to delimit the necessary lines of action, as well as to anticipate the possible measures that may allow citizens to contribute to the strengthening of democracy
