The book vindicates the current relevance of philosophical materialism. A large group of authors strives to present an updated version of materialism in line with contemporary developments in science and with philosophical tradition. The influence of two well-known materialist authors stands out: Mario Bunge and Gustavo Bueno. The book ends with three interesting chapters discussing the nature of abstract entities, the notion of emergence and the truth or falsity of the materialist theses.
