Who interacts with communicative AI and what attitudes are displayed toward it?Sociodemographic, personality, and futurephobia variables

Resumen

Las aplicaciones comunicativas de la inteligencia artificial (IA) han irrumpido en la vida de millones de personas a través de productos como ChatGPT, Midjourney o Replika, con capacidad para generar textos e imágenes e incluso comprender el lenguaje natural y socializar con humanos. Este estudio aborda las actitudes hacia la IA comunicativa, así como los factores sociodemográficos y de personalidad que se relacionan con su percepción positiva y su uso. Para ello, utilizamos datos de una encuesta realizada entre adultos residentes en España (N = 821) a finales de febrero de 2023. Los resulta-dos sugieren que existe un ligero predominio de las actitudes negativas hacia la IA comunicativa, que incluyen elementos cognitivos y afectivos como la percepción de aspectos deshumanizadores y de amenaza laboral, cautela o miedo. Sin embargo, una parte relevante de los encuestados no conoce la IA comunicativa o generaliza sus respuestas hacia otras aplicaciones de la IA. Las personas con mayor nivel educativo, más abiertas a la experiencia y menor futurofobia muestran actitudes más positivas hacia estas tecnologías. En cuanto a su adopción, los hombres, las personas más jóvenes y aquellas con actitudes más favorables hacia la IA tienen mayores probabilidades de decidir usarla, mientras que quienes puntúan más alto en amabilidad tienden a usarla con menor frecuencia una vez han decidido hacer uso de ella. Discutimos estos resultados bajo la premisa de que los usuarios pioneros (early adopters) pueden jugar un papel central en las actitudes de los usuarios más rezagados, así como en el desarrollo futuro de la IA comunicativa y de su marco normativo.
