Between 2009 and 2010, the Archaeological Museum of La Gomera began, with the University of La Laguna, a series of archaeological surveys throughout the island. The objective was to deepen the limited knowledge that existed about the habitation areas of the ancient population of La Gomera. The sites that yielded the most interesting results were: Las Cuevas de Herrera González and El Sobrado de Los Gomeros (Vallehermoso), El Lomito del Medio (San Sebastián) and La Cañada de La Gurona (Hermigua). This work provides the first data derived from the systematic analysis of the skeletal remains of fish recovered in these sites, establishing which species were captured, some consumption patterns, as well as some hypotheses about the exploitation patterns of the marine environment. The Lomito del Medio is the site with the largest number of remains and where the assessments can be more enriching. The rest of the surveys, with less quantitative relevance, offer data that complete this first overview.
