Resumen

The political changes and social transformations that occurred in the last decades of the 20thcentury were fundamental for the evolution of Spanish society. In this paper we present the evolution thatSpanish education has experienced from the dictatorship to the democratic stage. Following the legislativedevelopment, we will study the period that goes from the final years of the dictatorship with the enactmentof the General Education Law in 1970 until the approval of the Organic Law of Education in 2006. Some thirtyyears in which Spanish education was advancing and transforming spaces. A series of improvements ineducation stand out, which were reflected in the extension of schooling and in the access of women todifferent academic levels.
