Zusammenfassung
Julián Caparrós Morata (1908-1988) was a teacher born in Almería but whose professional life was spent in the Canary Islands. A convinced communist, he defended the educational reforms promoted by the most progressive republican governments. Because of this, he was severely purged and repressed until he was definitively removed from the classroom. In spite of everything, he continued to be interested in education and the fruit of this vocation was the wide knowledge he possessed of the different renovating pedagogical theories and currents; furthermore, he was a polyglot and could read authors from different trends and latitudes. During the transition to democracy, he was very critical of the educational reforms approved and, above all, of the poor preparation and lack of interest in teaching on the part of his colleagues in the profession. From then on, he took refuge in the defence of nature and peace as the paths to follow.
