Abstract

The death in 2013 of Vicki Penfold, one of the most prolific artists of the 20th century in the Canary Islands, led to the transfer of her personal archive to the Instituto de Estudios Hispánicos de Canarias for study and evaluation. This archive includes a great diversity of materials that could help in the analysis of the artist and her work: several paintings, drawings, linocuts, letters, books and photographs that collect the 95 years of her life. This archive is configured as a silent witness to the life and work of one of the most influential painters in the Canarian artistic and cultural scene of the last century. We understand that the correct reading of these personal funds will provide us with a unique testimony to know and reconstruct the vital and artistic trajectory of this creator.
