Abstract

In-service training of teachers of Mathematics constitutes an area of interest in the research on Mathematics Education. To elaborate training programmes which include, not only mathematical knowledge, but also didactic knowledge coherently constructed, supports that teachers complete their didactic competences for the performance of their functions as Mathematics teachers. In this paper a Teachers’ Training Programme is presented and evaluated in relation to Van Hiele`s proposals in Geometry. The Training Programme is organised around the main idea of a Guide-Course. It is developed by “Inmersion”, and the evaluation of the Programme is considered in three different stages: design, development and results. As a summary, the main purpose of the research that we present is double; on the one hand, we should take into account the improvements that are produced in the process of teaching Geometry from Van Hiele`s perspective and, on the other hand, we should decide the conditions in which these improvements are produced.
