Abstract

In this paper a preliminary study about the attitudes of a group of 330 students of a first course of University is presented, applying a questionnaire based on a type Likert scale. The variables considered for the analysis were gender, study condition and academic yield. Four fundamental aspects were considered: the attitude averages; the averages of item answer that define the studied dimensions of the attitude; the relationship of the populational averages of the attitude; and the correlation between the academic yield and the attitude. By means of the carried out analysis we got conclusions that tipify the influence of the variables taken into account with the attitude of the students, as well as, the relationship among the attitudes toward the mathematics and the use of the computer for the teaching of this subject.
