The historiography on the emigration of women to America has forgotten or silenced the role played by those from the Canary Islands in the historical development of the New World, especially in the Caribbean, both those who participated in the family emigration promoted by the Crown and those who They did it on their own to Cuba and Venezuela in the colonial era and in contracts to those two territories and Uruguay and Puerto Rico in the 19th century. This article tries to analyze what they meant, especially those who decided to go on their own, whether single, married or widowed, between the 17th and 19th centuries.
