Prof. Pavel Novoa is an Assistant Professor at the University of La Laguna (2024), where he teaches in the undergraduate programs of Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. He brings over 17 years of university teaching experience across Cuba, Ecuador, Chile, and Spain. Between 2007 and 2015, he served in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Holguín (Cuba), teaching in the degree programs of Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Accounting and Finance, Agronomic Engineering, and Mathematics. He was appointed Head of the Mathematics Department from 2014 to 2015. From 2015 to 2019, he was a faculty member in the field of Computer Science at the State Technical University of Quevedo (Ecuador), contributing to the programs in Systems Engineering, Telematics Engineering, and Software Engineering. Subsequently, from 2020 to 2022, he taught at the Catholic University of the North (Chile), within the degree in Information and Management Control Engineering. Most recently, he served as a Substitute Professor at the University of Granada (October 2023 – August 2024), where he taught in the Audiovisual Communication program and the Master’s in Computer Engineering. He has been accredited by ANECA for the position of Full Professor (June 2025) and has received a Positive Research Evaluation (Sexenio) for the period 2019–2024. Prof. Novoa is a member of the Decision Models and Optimization (MODO) research group at the University of Granada. His current research interests include evolutionary dynamic optimization, machine learning applications in economic-financial domains, multicriteria decision analysis, and technology-enhanced learning.
