Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis Grupos y grupoides de Lie y estructuras de Jacobi 2003. Supervised by Dr. Juan Carlos Marrero González.

David Iglesias Ponte is professor in Geometry and Topology at the University of La Laguna since 2019. Previously, he has been a Fulbright postdoctoral researcher at Penn State University, Juan de la Cierva researcher at CSIC (Spain) and Ramón y Cajal researcher at the University of La Laguna. His area of research is framed in the areas of Differential Geometry and Geometric Mechanics, studying the geometrical structures that lies behind different physical systems. He has been an organizer of several scientific workshops and seminars. Nowadays, he is one of the co-organizers of the seminario Geometry, Dynamics and Mechanics (https://events.math.unipd.it/GDMSeminar/node/1) He is a member of the Aula Cultural Matemática Divulgativa MATDIVULL (http://matdivu.webs.ull.es/) at the University of La Laguna, centered around the popularization of mathematics.
