Doctor by the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela with the thesis Carburos de silicio biomórficos como cerámicas portadoras de fármacos para su aplicación en implantes óseos 2014. Supervised by Dr. Mariana Landín Pérez.

My research has been focused on the development and application of new drug delivery systems for tissue regeneration. My MSc and PhD were focused on biomaterials synthesis and characterization for local drug delivery in bone regeneration while my initial three years as postdoctoral researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY, USA) was more dedicated to the tissue engineering field devoted to understand the role of cell crosstalk in tissue homeostasis and regeneration. In a following step, as associate researcher at University of Santiago de Compostela, I worked on a multidisciplinary environment to develop functional systems for local drug delivery in musculoskeletal diseases. My current research at University of La Laguna (Spain) is focused on the development of smart biomaterials able to modulate tissue homeostasis to restore healthy tissue environment.
