Erosion is a natural process of a physical and chemical nature that degrades, destroys and transports rock and soil of the Earths crust. This process can be accelerated, modified or corrected by anthropic action. Soil erosion is one form of soil degradation along with soil compaction, low organic matter, loss of soil structure, poor internal drainage, salinization, and soil acidity problems. These other forms of soil degradation, serious in themselves, usually contribute to accelerated soil erosion.
