Abstract
Good agricultural practices can contribute to organic carbon sequestration in soils, thus improving soil quality and decreasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. A good agricultural practice may be to add grinded rests of crops and garden prunings. Besides the climate, the evolution of these rests will depend on the type of rests and the soil characteristics. In this study we show the results of the application of pruning rests of avocado (AA), man- go (MM), cherimoya (CC) and gardens (JA, gardens under avocado; JM, gardens under mango; and JC, gardens under cherimoya). Although soil quality increased in all cases, showing an increase in properties such as organic carbon (OC), water retention capacity (H33 kPa and H1500 kPa), nutrient content (K, N and P) and cationic ex- change capacity (CEC), these effects were more evident in the soils with rests of mango and rests of gardens under avocado
