Abstract

The classroom application of educational principles derived from Constructivism has uncovered multiple interpretations about the origin, construction, and changing processes of both everyday and academic knowledge. An in-depth discussion between specialists becomes necessary in order to establish and negotiate what is meant by a constructivist conception of teaching and learning in schools. Within this framework, we set forth some ideas, arguments and proposals made by a group of psychologists and pedagogues at the II Seminario sobre Constructivismo y Educación held in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife, Spain). Conclusions summarizing the main contributions made at the seminar are also included.
