Resumo

Any approach to the study of obscenity is determined by its dynamic nature and by its connection to the social context in which it appears and where it becomes visible. This ontological instability makes obscenity a very interesting concept in relation to translation. If every translation process hints at some of the sociocultural conditions in which it takes place, then the study of the translation of obscenity might enable us to observe not only the evolution of the concept and the different ways in which it has been materialized, but, above all, the social discourse that classifies an act as decorous or indecorous
