Abstract
If we make a comparative analysis of the metrical treatises of Beda and Cruindmelo we find that they show, as regards form, interesting similarities. Both treatises study two issues that are unusual in this kind of manuals: the poetic genres and rhythm. In this paper we try to show how original the discussion of both issues is, to what extent these treatises are an example of the new versifying activity, as well as how they show the legacy of the tradition they inherited.
