Abstract

Study motivated by suspicion of improper use of pediatric emergencies. An operational definition of the inadequate visit to a hospital pediatric emergency service Is proposed. The objective is to check the consistency of this definition and to identify the factors associated with this inadequate demand. Descriptive transversal Study carried out in the Emergency Department of the University Hospital NS Candelaria of Tenerife with data extracted from the stories of the service and interview with the children's companions. In Order to Verify the consistency of the operational definition of inadequate visitation that is proposed, the sample is contrasted with the incomes and highs at home that occur among the children cared for, the diagnostic tests that were performed and the treatments that are subdued. The factors that are postulated as associated with the inadequacy of the visit are the socio-economic of the Companions of the minor, his perception of gravity.
