Resumo

Through the alternative of shortening vision, this text tackles the temporal and self-inflicted blindness of Object, the character that appears in the motion picture made by Samuel Beckett and titled Film, as a way of widening and/or renewing perception. Along the same lines as Object, the protagonist of another film, much more recent, Another Earth by Mike Cahill, pursues her own annulment with the purpose of getting a zero degree, from which she will set off and start once again a new life. Around the date of the first release of Film, 1965, there are some examples so representative of annulment of which is visible for the History of Art, like Zen for Film by Nam June Paik. This one and other contemporary examples, preceding and subsequent, highlight on the other hand the need of a sensible lack just to readjust our senses and so to be able to perceive things in a different way. Thus, we should try to see things with a different look.
