Resumo

When it comes to formulating measures to deal with academic abandonment, it is not only important to determine the causes that cause it, but also the conditions, skills and competencies necessary to achieve a good adaptation to the context of higher education. For this reason, we have carried out a study focused on the analysis of the characteristics of successful university students. Data collected from a sample of undergraduate students from different branches of knowledge (n=208) allowed us to define the profile of the students who are well adapted, who obtain a good academic performance and who work on the basis of a well defined project. The results obtained should be used to work with the students, from the previous stages, on formative and orienting activities of exploration, clarification of expectations, socialization, planning and decision making, in order to face them efficiently Transition and adaptation to higher education.
