Resumen
This talk considers the advantages of reading in English as a Foreign Language at Primary level. It argues that it is important because reading is an interactive process that tries to solve the linguistic guessing game implied; and it is very convenient to trigger the acquisition processes. Reading is very valuble for the comprehensible input hypothesis and it acts as an important factor for the interlanguage growth. The talk also presents the way we can deal with reading at Primary level and it offers alternatives in how to deal with the metacognitive process that allows readers to recognize their linguistic knowledge in the texts. Finally, it gives a timing for reading in the different Primary cicles as well as a tipology of activities among which the author recommends, comics, stories and letters.
