Abstract

The spectral turn has made possible the emergence of an unpublished space from which to approach the precolonial epistemologies. I speak, for example, to the crucial role that ethnic groups already disappeared, like the Guanches, have played in some of the artistic and literary manifestations of contemporary canarian society. As ghosts, these natives have assumed a preponderant role in the modern culture of the Canary Islands, although, as I intend to show, only with the penetration of the Avant-Garde movements, its hauntological nature has been useful to question its historical coloniality. In this article, which follows the theoretical assumptions of Psychoanalysis and Decolonial Thought, I pretend to demonstrate the way in which, the indigenous epistemicide still represents a challenge for the constitution of the Canarian Identity.
