Abstract

Overweight and obesity are growing problems in our society and have serious consequences on the health of people who suffer from them. The treatment for these nutritional imbalances, as well as the prevention of these health conditions, involves working on healthy lifestyle habits. In its concern for the mentioned weight disorders and their consequences, the nursing discipline has developed a whole theoretical framework for the study and treatment of overweight and obesity. With regard to a clinical case, this problem is addressed by putting into practice the Middle-Range Theory Toward a Middle-Range Theory of Weight Management, which adapts the theoretical framework of Dorothea E. Orem (Self-Care Deficit Theory) to weight control and management.
