Abstract

Despite the potential economic and social positive impact of transnational corporations, theiractivities in Latin America often pose a challenge to the full enjoyment of labor human rights. Thecountries of this region face a growing number of situations of forced labor, child labor, jobinsecurity or discrimination in the workplace. Against this background, this paper analyses the extentto which the implementation of mandatory human rights due diligence may be an efficientmechanism to strengthen respect for labor human rights in the context of business activities in LatinAmerica. In this sense, this paper explores how the Inter-American Human Rights System promotes
