Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis Aplicación de nanoestructuras de silicio poroso en células fotovoltaicas 2007. Supervised by Dr. Ricardo Guerrero Lemus.

Benjamín J. González Díaz has been a Doctor in Physics since 2008 and a Full Professor in the Area of Electrical Engineering since 2018. His scientific work has focused on various aspects related to the manufacture of renewable energy systems, generation and management within the network. and the political and social implications of the energy transition. He has worked on several research projects, both internationally, nationally, and regionally. He has worked with research teams from several countries, highlighting Germany at the ISE Fraunhofer, in Colombia with the EAN University and in Singapore with the Solar Energy Research Institute. He currently coordinates the Thematic Interest Group on Energy Transition at the European University Alliance StarsEU. From the point of view of technological development activities and collaboration with the industry, he has led 7 initiatives and participated in another 10. In the field of university management, he has been Coordinator of Quality and Teaching Innovation of the Higher School of Engineering and Technology between 2016 and 2017, Director of the Secretariat of Sustainability and University Services from 2017 to 2019 and member of the Academic Commission of the University Master's Degree in Renewable Energies since 2011.
