Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis La interacción oral en el aula de lengua extranjera en secundaria estrategias, actividades y procesos de aprendizaje 2018. Supervised by Dr. Plácido Bazo Martínez, Dr. Antonio Jesús Sosa Alonso.
My academic and professional trajectory has primarily developed within the field of Didactics, with a particular focus on the teaching of English as a foreign language. I obtained my degree in English Philology from the University of La Laguna in 2012, graduating with the highest academic record in my cohort. During my final year of studies, I was awarded a Research Collaboration Grant in the Department of English and German Philology, which provided me with invaluable experience in research—a key step in my academic and professional development. Subsequently, I completed the Inter-University Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching (specializing in English) at the same institution (2012-2013). In 2014, I began teaching English, along with other subjects in the humanities, at a private-concerted secondary school in the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where I worked for five years. During this time, I also specialized in bilingual education through a University Expert Certificate in CLIL/Content and Language Integrated Learning (2014-2015), further complemented by a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education CLIL in 2018. Since 2016, I have been a faculty member at the University of La Laguna, initially as a Collaborating Labor Researcher (CLI), later as an Assistant Professor, and since 2022 as a Contracted Lecturer. My teaching experience at both the secondary and university levels, between 2014 and 2018, has been pivotal in my development as a teacher and researcher. This exposure to two distinct yet interconnected educational stages, relevant to my research, allowed me to successfully complete my doctoral thesis in 2018, earning my PhD. As a Lecturer and Researcher (PDI), my current activities are primarily focused in the Department of Specific Didactics, in the area of Language and Literature, within the Faculty of Education at the University of La Laguna. I have taught courses in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education, the Master’s in Teacher Training, as well as in the Bachelor's Degrees in English Studies and Sociology, delivering instruction in both Spanish and English. In parallel, I have collaborated with the Canary Agency for Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE) as a reviewer of diagnostic assessments. I have also been actively involved in research through the publication of articles and book chapters, participation in conferences, and co-direction of innovation projects within the Faculty of Education at ULL, as well as the supervision of doctoral theses. Additionally, I have pursued continuous professional development through courses focused on teaching and research. My main research lines include: - Didactics of foreign languages. - Initial teacher training in foreign languages. - Promotion of oral skills in foreign languages. - Teaching and learning in bilingual settings. - Training in the use of School Libraries as a teaching resource.
