Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis Control de un Robot Autónomo Móvil para la Recogida de objetos (mejora del Rendimiento en el Control de Manipuladores Robóticos Mediante Combinación de Técnicas de Control Robusto y Predictivo) 2008. Supervised by Dr. Juan Albino Méndez Pérez.

Lecturer in Robotics and Automation by the University of La Laguna, since October 2008. Previously he was associate lecturer since January 2002. Prior to his time as contracted, he enjoyed a scholarship from the Science and Education Spanish Ministry FPI-FPU program from 1998 to 2002. He has held various management positions at the aforementioned university, such as Secretary of the School of Computer Science and Sub-director of Quality of the Higher School of Engineering and Technology, after having been Coordinator of Quality and Educational Innovation for the same center. In these last positions, he has been responsible for the accreditation of the four degrees taught at the School. Likewise, he has coordinated the working group of the Euro-Inf International Quality Label for the degree of Graduate in Computer Engineering, whose final result was "Obtaining the Label" and which meant that the label was obtained with a validity of 6 years. In addition, he has coordinated the working groups of the EUR-ACE International Label of Quality for the three degrees of Industrial Engineering, whose final results were "Obtaining the Label "and that also meant obtaining the label with a maximum validity of 6 years. The research lines are framed within the field of Control Engineering and Robotics. The 1999 thesis already contained aspects of Classic and Intelligent Control applied to manipulative robots, from which certain publications of interest in magazines such as "Control Engineering Practice" and "Neural Processing Letters" are derived. In his thesis, predictive and adaptive control strategies are also applied to manipulative robots. This work is supported by publications in magazines such as "Control Engineering Practice" and by various stays in centers such as the University of Seville and the University of Reading, in the UK. He has been a member of a research project on the automatic administration of anesthesia for the control of the anesthetic process in patients undergoing surgical interventions, where he has applied Predictive and Adaptive Control techniques. From this work are derived a book chapter Pharmacology, by Intech, and several publications in relevant journals and conferences. He belongs to the Computers and Control research group, as well as the Control Engineering research group. He is immersed in the research lines of Control Engineering, Control of the Anesthetic Process, Modeling and Control in the field of Energy, and Robotics. He has supervised a thesis on the implementation of manipulative robots in the astronomical instrument MIRADAS for the GTC. In addition, he continues to participate in research related to the modeling and control of the anesthetic process in patients undergoing surgical interventions, where he also has supervised a thesis on the study of indices for the monitoring and control of analgesia, another of the variables included in the anesthetic process.
