Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the thesis Direct femtosecond laser writing of 3d photonic structures in rare-earth doped lithium niobate.(escritura directa de estructuras fotónicas 3d en niobato de litio dopado con iones de tierras raras mediante pulsos láser de femtosegundos) 2009. (Updated to october 2022) ACADEMIC MERITS in brief: Dr. Ródenas is a Ramón y Cajal National Fellowship Researcher since 2019, he is currently PI of a HORIZON-EIC-2022-PATHFINDEROPEN-01 european project, a H2020-MSCA-IF-2020, a National Project RETOS 2019, with a predoctoral grant FPI PhD student, two regional ACIISI spanish projects, and was also supervisor of a 2019 postdoctoral Juan de la Cierva fellow until august 2022. Dr. Ródenas has one sexenio (a Ramon y Cajal Fellowship is considered as equivalent to 1 sexenio), and has directed 3 PhD theses (two ended in 2017 and one in 2019), a fourth PhD is now being undertaken. He has been external evaluator of the ERC Consolidator Grant 2019 H2020 program, and is a registered evaluator as well of the Spanish Ministry and Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) Spanish state agency, having recently reviewed within the 2020 and 2019 calls «Proyectos de I+D+i» as well as other regional competitive calls. He has also been Evaluator of the Comisión de Tecnología Energética, Mecánica, Minera y de Materiales, Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Técnica (ANPCyT), República Argentina (2015). He has worked as PhD thesis defense examiner at Heriot Watt University (UK, 2018), as Thesis Defense Tribunal (Universidad de Salamanca, 2017), and as External PhD Thesis Reviewer (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 2017). Since 2016 he has credited the Spanish Government Accreditations (ANECA) for accessing to public and private university positions as Profesor Contratado Doctor, Profesor Ayudante Doctor, and Profesor de Universidad Privada. RESEARCH MERITS in brief: Experience: Has more than 15 years of research experience in the field of materials science, ultrafast lasers and photonics. Has co-directed 3 PhD Theses, and has been research staff in five different European universities. He has given 7 international Invited Talks, has published around 70 papers in international journals, including a Nature Photonics as first author. Excellence: Has been awarded three highly competitive fellowships: MEC-Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2010 (Spanish), an EU-H2020 Marie Sklodowska Individual Fellowship in 2017, and a Ramón y Cajal Spanish Fellowship in 2018. Independence and Capability to attract International Competitive Fundings: After his PhD at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM, 2009), he has worked as Associate Researcher at Heriot Watt University (UK), Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain) and at the IFN-CNR (Italy). Since 2017 to 2022 he has attracted 1.48 M€ total fundings.
