Abstract
Linguistic borrowing is achieved when an element from one linguistic system is introduced into another structurally distinct system. From the outset, this mechanism sets in motion a process of rejection which is ultimately resolved by adjustment and integration of the new element into the language across phonetic, graphic, grammatical and semantic levels. This study demonstrates the fact that the process of adaptation of Gallicisms to Castilian Spanish can occur at all linguistic levels.
