Recent access to new documents is granting the completion of earlier lexical gaps as well as allowing the recovery of a vocabulary which had a period of introduction and adaptation to Canarian Spanish within its initial years of settlement in the Archipelago. The analysis of the sugar terminology found in the Directory of Adeje’s Fort House confirms the presence of new words concerning this field, some of which were little or not documented before. These terms have come to assert, with actual data, the role of the Islands in the diffusion of this peculiar terminology through the Atlantic Spanish.
