Abstract
This work studies a series of statements which systematically appear in different sapiential texts of the Middle Ages. The characteristic ingenium associated to women in these statements is generally considered as a motivation underlying their evil nature. From this perspective, these statements constitute a useful instrument for the moral-didacticism inherent in medieval society, particularly as regards practical questions such as how men can achieve wisdom by means of their behaviour in relation to women.
