Abstract

This contribution explores some of Paulo Freire's important contributions to participatory methodologies, focusing in particular on the dialogic facilitation of participatory processes. In the first part we will briefly present how participatory practices, if developed from a critical dialogue, represent creative mobilisation processes that enable the reinvention of society. In the second part, the focus will be on anti-dialogical practices and how they can contribute to the reproduction of structures of social domination. Finally, the essential elements of the Transformative Dialogical Approach (EDT) will be presented, which develops and operationalises Freire's dialogical proposal in the context of facilitating participatory processes.
