Doctor by the Universidad de La Laguna with the thesis Development of analytical methodologies for the determination of compounds with oestrogenic activity 2017. Supervised by Dr. Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Delgado, Dr. Javier Hernández Borges.

Bárbara Socas Rodríguez finished her Bachelor`s degree in Chemistry in 2011 at the University of La Laguna (ULL) obtaining the Extraordinary Prize upon graduation in Bachelor´s degree in Chemistry. During the last year of her degree she was beneficiary of a Collaboration Fellowship awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education that allowed her to carry out a research stay in the Department of Chemistry of the Université de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, les Facultés universitaires Notre- Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) in Namur, Belgium. In addition, during her degree studies she also obtained two JAE-Intro fellowships (2008 and 2010) for the initiation in research activities at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). She carried out her PhD at the ULL (2012-2017) focused on the development of new methodologies for the evaluation of estrogenic compounds in food and environmental samples, obtaining the Extraordinary Prize given by the ULL. During this period, she realized two stays at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) in Prague, Czech Republic. Bárbara has participated in several international, national, and regional research projects related to the application of sustainable procedures for the analysis of organic compounds. After finishing her PhD, she worked as a technician at the Agroalimentary Techniques Service of the General Services of Research Support at the ULL (2017-2018) using the state-of-the art of chromatography and detection techniques. From 2018 until March 2019, she worked as temporary lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the ULL in the area of Analytical Chemistry teaching in the degrees of Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and pharmacy as well as the master’s degree in chemistry. She has supervised several Final degree and Final master’s degree Projects. After that, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Green Technology Group (GTG) in the Department of Chemistry of the University of Lund (Sweden) supported by a fellow funding by Carl Trygger Foundation. There she carried out the development of new methodologies for the determination of vitamin D and its metabolites in biological samples based on the application of supercritical fluids and mass spectrometry. In May 2020 se joined the Laboratory of Foodomics at the Institute of Food Science Research (CIAL, CSIC) in Madrid as “Juan de la Cierva Formación” postdoctoral researcher, participating on the evaluation of contaminant in valorized food by-products. Currently she is working as Assistant Professor at the Division of Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry (ULL), and develops her research activities at the research group AQAIMPA (ULL).
