Dr. Patricia Delponti is a senior lecturer and research fellow at the Department of Communication Sciences and Social Work at the University of La Laguna. She holds a degree in Media Studies and Journalism, and she is also doctor in Communication Science by the Universidad de La Laguna (Spain). Patricia Delponti obtained his doctoral degree in Communication Science for her dissertation about film critics and cinema studies in March 2007, after having completed other studies in English Teaching. During the last twenty years, she has worked as journalist and PR Director at different public and private companies combining her professional activities with lecturer and researcher at the Universidad de La Laguna. Dr. Delponti's research interests focus on new media, corporate communication strategies and audiovisual studies. She is particularly engaged in the measurement of values transmitted in fiction series available on on-demand platform, through a competitive financing Project obtained in 2020. Closely connected to research in social communication—from both theoretical and empirical perspectives— Dr. Delponti has examined the role of film critics in the digital landscape and its contribution to the journalistic genre. She has focused her research attention on observing discursive transits between web platform series and TV series. In addition she studies the high school students audiovisual consuming habits. She has published research articles in prestigious peer-reviewed journals such as Profesional de la Información, Revista Opción, Frontiers, Estudios sobre el mensaje periodístico among others non-peer-reviewed articles, as well as forthcoming publication reports. Likewise, she has contributed to several prestigious conferences with articles and posters showing her teaching experiences applying student centered active teaching methodologies such as flipped classroom or service learning projects. Recently the Canarian University Quality Agency has positively valued her project for innovation and educational transfer about Social communication and climate change’s the challenges for developing awareness campaings. Dr. Delponti's publications on these topics also include the transformations in training models for journalists in Spain and Journalism studies and their social contribution from a service learning approach, which were well considered in teaching forums where she presented experiences and results. From more a theoretical perspective, Patricia Delponti is also involved in research on TV quality theories, Journalistic criticism and film analysis. She has participated in research projects on institutional transparency and open data at local public administration. Currently Dr. Delponti is an active member of the International TV Quality Observatory and is part of an upcoming research project concerning the perception of the Venezuelan immigrant through television (together with Professor Gabriela Fabbro at the Austral University – Argentina and La Sabana University – Colombia). Her working experience in the private sector and public institutions has provided her with efficient skills and abilities for the effective management of work teams, budget management and achievement of objectives. Her administrative experience is now being developed extensively, as she holds the position for Director of Educational Quality and Innovation Activities at the Vice-Rector's Office of the Universidad de La Laguna, where she facilitates a newsletter, organizes events and other improving teaching activities at this institution.
